Extension of Transit Gas Pipeline to Turkey Commissioned

Lozenets Village, Yambol Region (Southeastern Bulgaria), August 3 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov Friday cut the ribbon of an extension of the transit gas pipeline to Turkey. The 20 km section connects the Lozenets Compressor Station and the Nedyalsko Pigging Facility.

Inaugurating the facility, the PM said that it makes all gas transmission systems in Bulgaria reverse-flow capable. The transit capacity of the pipeline will thus be increased to 16 billion cu m from Bulgaria to Turkey and to 15.7 billion cu m in the opposite direction.

"In building the gas pipeline, we have complied with the European requirements that part of these supplies should pass through the Balkan European Gas Hub. Besides this, we have reached agreements with Ankara and Moscow on an extension of Turkish Stream via our hub to Serbia, Macedonia, Austria and Hungary with the approval of the European Commission," Borissov pointed out.
