Bulgaria Ups Its Offer in Effort to
Sway VW Decision about
Location of New Car Factory

Sofia, October 16 (BTA) - Bulgaria has improved its offer to carmaker Volkswagen in a bid to sway its decision about the location of a new car factory, the honorary chairman of the Bulgarian automobile cluster and former President Rosen Plevneliev (2012-2017) told the Bulgarian National Radio Wednesday.

This country has proposed to double its subsidy to 260 million euro.

The information comes after reports that the VW executive board has delayed the final decision for its investment in Turkey as Ankara continues its military operation against Kurdish fighters in Syria.

Plevneliev is quoted as saying that Bulgaria has broaden its cooperation with VW in various fields. This country is yet to build electric car infrastructure and has more ideas of how to support VW with additional infrastructure and educational measures, he said.

Plevnliev expressed hope that the VW board will postpone its final decision for November and reconsider its plans for the factory location. LN/
