December 24 (BTA) - The Bulgarian healthcare authorities
confirmed 1,615 new COVID-19 cases in the country in 24 hours on
 Wednesday after 6,945 tests, according to data posted at
http://coronavirus.bg. The positivity rate for the day was 23.25
 per cent.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria since the start
of the pandemic is 195,886. There are 82,443 active cases.

Wednesday also saw 1,375 people recover from the infection,
bringing the total number of recoveries to 106,465. Hospitalized
 patients currently number 5,714, including 533 in intensive
care.

Ninety-nine people succumbed to the disease in 24 hours,
bringing the death toll to 6,978. RY/VE
