Anti-COVID Measures Prove Productive, No Regions Left in Red Zone
December 24 (BTA) - The anti-epidemic measures in
Bulgaria have yielded results, and currently there are no
regions in the red zone, the National Coronavirus Task Force
(NCTF) told Prime Minister Boyko Borissov at a working meeting
on Thursday, as quoted by the government press service. The
meeting was also attended by members of the National Vaccination
Task Force (NVTF).
The Prime Minister summed up: "The measures have accomplished
what we have been aiming at: a reduction of the number of new
cases and deaths. Recoveries are also increasing."
According to Health Minister Kostadin Angelov, the morbidity
rate has been declining steadily.
NVTF leader Krassimir Gigov said the expected COVID-19
vaccination process has been prepared in terms of documentation
and logistics. NCTF leader and Military Medical Academy chief
Ventsislav Moutafchiiski and Sofia's Pirogov Emergency Hospital
Director Asen Baltov said their respective institutions are
ready to join the vaccination process.
At a briefing in the Council of Ministers building later on
Thursday, Chief State Health Inspector Angel Kounchev said that
each patient who is getting immunized will be given two doses of
the vaccine and will receive a certificate after the second
dose. The certificate could be used when travelling or for other
purposes.
Tests are being devised to determine the effect of the
vaccination, the characteristics of the vaccinated person's
immunity and how long the immunity can last, Kounchev said.
Minister Angelov also reported decreasing COVID bed occupancy in
hospitals. RY/VE
