445 Case Files, 33 Pre-trial Proceedings or Election Violations Initiated since Beginning Election Campaign
April 4 (BTA) - From the start of the election campaign
until 1 pm on Sunday, a total of 445 files and 33 pre-trial
proceedings for election violations have been filed throughout
the country, the prosecution magistracy said.
The files and proceedings contain data and evidence of offering
property incentives in exchange for a vote for a certain
candidate, political party or coalition, of the damage to
property of political parties and campaign materials, as well as
of making threats and hooliganism.
On election day, two fast-track pre-trial proceedings were
instituted against persons for attempting to exercise the right
to vote with false identity documents and false voting
certificates.
Pre-trial proceedings have been instituted against an advocate
of a political party for hooliganism.
In the appellate region of Sofia there were 15 pre-trial
proceedings initiated, in Plovdiv - 8; in Varna - 2; in Bourgas
- 1; in Veliko Tarnovo - 7.
Eleven people have been charged and three have been remanded in
custody by the court.
The prosecution magistracy also said that a person wanted by the
Indonesian authorities, with a red notice published by INTERPOL
for money laundering and using a foreign payment instrument
through a skimming device, has been detained. He offered
property incentives in exchange for voting for a particular
political party. During the searches campaign materials, lists
of names of party advocates, disks and computer peripherals
related to the election process, were found and seized. Four
more people involved in the criminal activity have been
