Caretaker Education and Science Minister Denkov Opens 2021 Edition of Sofia Science Festival

Sofia, May 15 (BTA) - Caretaker Education and Science Minister
Nikolai Denkov Saturday opened the 2021 edition of the Sofia
Science Festival. At the opening Denkov said, quoted in a press
release of his Ministry, that for eleven years in a row, the
event is a celebration of science. Denkov said the festival is
meant for the young participants - future scholars, who are
going to make discoveries.

Visitors to the festival can explore more than 50 booths and
attend more than 100 events with scientific exhibitions,
demonstrations and experiments where more than 100 Bulgarian and
foreign researchers are taking part. The festival takes place
on 15 and 16 May 2021 at Sofia Tech Park and on 17 and 18 May
digitally for students. The highlights of the event are current
research challenges, including the pending climate catastrophe,
human mental health, space and environmental research.

Renowned ethologist and environmentalist Dr Jane Goodall takes
part in the festival online, as well as Jocelyn Bell Burnell, a
world-renowned astrophysicist who inadvertently discovered
pulsars as a graduate student in Radio Astronomy in Cambridge,
physicist Marco Drago who is doing research on transient
gravitational wave signals, and other prominent scholars from
twelve countries.
