Sofia, May 23 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 416,565 after 5,976 tests identified 148 new infections on Saturday, May 22, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate for the day was 2.5 per cent.

Varna Region tops the list of new COVID-19 cases with 22 positive tests, followed by Sofia City with 19 cases and Plovdiv Region with 18.

The active cases are 25,876. Currently, hospitalized patients number 3,817, including 410 in intensive care.

Medical staff infected so far during the epidemic have reached 13,376, including 3,843 doctors and 4,537 nurses.

Another 234 COVID-19 patients recovered in Bulgaria on Saturday, bringing the total to 373,202. Thirteen new fatalities were reported, and the death toll now adds up to 17,487.

With 6,348 new inoculations on Saturday, a total of 1,257,015 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country so far. VE
