3SI Summit Business Forum Presidential Panel: German President Steinmeier Says His Country Fully Supports 3SI Objectives
Sofia, July 8 (BTA) - Speaking at the Presidential Panel of the
business forum, part of the annual summit of the Three Seas
Initiative (3SI) hosted by Sofia on July 8 and 9, President
Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany, whose country is a partner
country of the Initiative, along with the United States and the
European Commission, said that Germany fully supports the
objectives of the 3SI to strengthen connectivity, security and
the well-being of the people.
Steinmeier said that Germany wants to commit even more to the
implementation of this objective, in particular when concrete
projects coincide with his country's vision for a greener
Europe.
He said that the countries should take full advantage of the
potential of the Initiative but also that it needs to be part of
the European policies and instruments.
Steinmeier spoke about the opportunities in the European Green
Deal and the NextGenerationEU recovery facility for the economic
recovery after Covid-19.
The German President dwelled on the renewed trans-Atlantic
cooperation looking forward to the times after Covid-19.
Steinmeier said he is grateful for the mutual respect and for
the new beginning of the partnership.
He said that by improving the connectivity, within Europe and
with the United States, the well-being of the people will
improve, as well as the collective security and the
attractiveness of this model of cooperation on global scale.
Steinmeier thanked Radev for the commitment to move 3SI forward
in these hard times.
The German President said that all countries are faced with the
same major challenges of boosting economic recovery after the
coronavirus pandemic, accelerating the green and the digital
transformation, and pooling the efforts for maintaining an
international order based on rules. ZH
