August 2 (BTA) - Andon Baltakov has resigned as Director
General of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), effective August
6, 2021, BNR reported here on Tuesday.

In a letter to the staff of the radio station, Baltakov said
that he was stepping down for deeply personal reasons and asked
for restraint when his decision is analysed and commented on.

"It was a privilege and an incredible opportunity for me to
manage the BNR at such a turning point in the organization's
history," the outgoing Director General is quoted as saying.

He believes hat the Council for Electronic Media will elect a
manager who is not tied to political or economic interests and
who will carry out the work on transforming the BNR. MY/LG
