Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association Sets Up Crisis HQ, Declares Strike Readiness
August 30 (BTA) - The General Meeting of the Bulgarian
Hotel and Restaurant Association (BHRA) created a crisis HQ for
the survival of the tourist sector and declared full strike
readiness. They annoounced their decision Monday.
BHRA is against the closing of restaurants and other catering
establishments ona day's notice. They argue that when they are
closed as part of a general lockdown, financial support should
be provided for the businesses and workers. Also, they are
against making vaccination mandatory unless this is done by an
express legislative act. They also demand compensations for the
high price of electricity for business users and insist that the
VAT should remain at 9 per cent indefinitely for catering
establishments.
The members of the BHRA members declared full strike readiness
and resolve to stand up for their demands.
They say that theywould support only a Tourism Minister who has
"an adequate postion" on the BHRA demands. RY/LN/
