Caretaker Finance Minister Hints at Remaining in Politics after Term in Office's End
Sofia, September 5 (BTA) - In an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio on Sunday, caretaker Finance Minister Assen Vassilev said that until the end of his term in office, he will not participate in any types of political projects. "Afterwards, I will think about what exactly I want to do. I will see if there are like-minded people with whom we can do something to help Bulgaria," he added.
He said he doesnТt know whether the next caretaker government to be appointed by the President will be in the same composition or a different one, adding that no one has held talks with him about this matter.
Commenting on the upcoming 2021 State budget update, Vassilev said that according to the updated revenue forecast for July and August, additional revenues of 200 million leva are expected above the budget framework which was presented to Parliament.
In connection with the proposed increase of the minimum pension to 370 leva from October 1, Vassilev said that the necessary funds will not hinder the implementation of the budget and there will be no need to incur additional debt or increase the deficit.
The caretaker Finance Minister also said that it is necessary to start a conversation about the concession agreements for mineral resources, like the one with Dundee Precious Metals, so that future contracts for deposits will be made in a new way and can be improved for both parties.
