Former Caretaker Economy, Finance Ministers Petkov and Vassilev to Enter Politics
Sofia, September 16 (BTA) - Former caretaker economy minister Kiril Petkov told journalists after handing over the office to the new caretaker Economy Minister Daniela Vezieva that he and former caretaker finance minister Assen Vassilev will enter politics.
"Today I am clearly stating that we are entering politics, we will be part of the political life and will participate in the next elections," Petkov said. According to him, the time left until the November 14 elections is insufficient for registering a party and the two are currently considering different options, but will be surrounded by honest people with successful lives outside of politics.
This will in no way be a presidential party, Petkov said, adding that he was invided by President Rumen Radev to remain in the new caretaker Cabinet, but has decided instead that it would be better if he continued the change by entering politics.
Asked whether they will participate in a left- or a right-wing formation, Petkov said they believe they can achieve leftist goals by using rightist instruments, such as not increasing taxes, attracting investments, ridding businesses of corruption, so that higher incomes, better education and healthcare can be achieved.
According to Petkov, the financing of the political project will be transparent and clear. He warned, however, that there are already people out there speaking on their behalf. "If someone asks you for money, don't believe them," Petkov warned.
"Take a look at my team at the Economy Ministry - these people will be part of the new project," he said. MY
