COVID-19 Update: 1,867 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate Nearly 16%
Sofia, October 17 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 539,619, after 11,811 tests identified 1,867 newly infected persons on Saturday, of whom 85.5 per cent are unvaccinated, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 15.8 per cent.
Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 557 positive tests, followed by Varna Region with 192 cases and Plovdiv Region with 182 cases.
The active cases are 60,032. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 6,035, including 512 in intensive care. Of the 262 newly hospitalized patients, 90.1 per cent are unvaccinated.
The infected medical staff reached 15,068, with 35 new cases recorded over the last 24 hours.
Another 556 COVID-19 patients recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 457,356.
A total of 43 fatalities were reported, of whom 90.7 per cent were unvaccinated, and the death toll now adds up to 22,231.
With 2,925 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 2,626,708 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,383,964 people are fully vaccinated and 7,907 people have received a booster dose.DD
