Unemployment in Bulgaria Decreases from August, Increases Y/Y

Brussels, November 3 (BTA) - The unemployment rate in the eurozone continued to fall in September, reaching 7.4 per cent of the economically active population compared to 7.5 per cent in August and 8.6 per cent in September 2020, Eurostat reported on Wednesday.


The recovery of the economy in the spring, following the impact of health restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, continues to fuel the rise of the labour market. For the EU, unemployment fell to 6.7 per cent from 6.9 per cent in August this year and 7.7 per cent in September 2020.

In Bulgaria, the unemployment rate fell slightly to 5.5 per cent in September this year from 5.6 per cent in August but rose from 5.3 per cent in September 2020.

The lowest unemployment was registered in the Czech Republic (2.6 per cent) and the highest in Spain (14.6 per cent), followed by Greece (13.3 per cent).
