Bulgarian Opera Singer Sonya Yoncheva Performs at Greek National Opera
(BTA) - World-famous Bulgarian opera prima Sonya Yoncheva was welcomed in Greece with honours, said to BTA by Atanas Maev, a representative of Yancheva's management team, on the occasion of her concert on November 4 at the Greek National Opera.
Maev explained that Yoncheva's performance was in honour of the 25th anniversary of the Together for Children Foundation for the protection of children's rights.
The event was attended by the President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou,, and the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Greece, Valentin Poryazov.
The concert consisted entirely of arias from operas by Giacomo Puccini. Yoncheva performed alongside her brother, tenor Marin Yonchev, under conductor Philip Ogen.
"The audience just erupted. And at the gala dinner, organized by Rolex, which was attended by many business people, Sonya Yoncheva was welcomed in the restaurant with honour and respect at a very high level," said Maev. He added that the prima has received invitations to perform in Greece again in 2022 or 2023.
Sonya Yoncheva travelled to Greece directly from Geneva, where two days earlier she had a concert presenting her new baroque repertoire from her album Rebirth, said Maev. He added that next week the opera prima will travel to Barcelona, where she will perform Rebirth at the Palau de la Musica Catalana, a lavish, very beautiful theatre in Barcelona.
BTA is a media partner for the promotion of all tours, opera performances and concerts of Sonya Yoncheva in 2021 and 2022 in the country and abroad. RY/DT
