Prosecutor's Office, OSCE Mission Representatives Hold Working Meeting ahead of November 14 Elections
Sofia, November 10 (BTA) - Representatives of the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office held a working meeting with representatives of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) mission in connection with the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections on November 14, the Prosecutor's Office said on Tuesday. The Bulgarian participants in the meeting were Deputy Prosecutor General Daniela Masheva, the Prosecutor General's Spokesperson, Siika Mileva, Prosecutor Vanya Stefanova, Head of Department in the Supreme Prosecutor's Office of Cassation, and Prosecutor Klementina Palicheva, and on behalf of the OSCE: Marcell Nagy, Deputy Head of the OECD mission, legal analyst Enira Bronitskaya, and her assistant Ilina Dyakova.
The meeting discussed the measures taken by the prosecution service to comply with the law during the elections and its commitment to active cooperation between the institutions to ensure a fair and transparent vote.
During the talks, the OSCE representatives were informed that a national interdepartmental unit has been established, which involves the Prosecutor's Office and the State Agency for National Security. They were also informed about the number of pre-trial proceedings and files related to violations of citizens' political rights, and about the number of requests submitted to the Central Election Commission to strip the immunity from one presidential candidate and two candidates for MPs over indictable offences committed by them.
