Bulgarian, Polish President Radev and Duda: Only United EU Can Tackle Migrant Crisis

Sofia, November 23 (BTA) - The European Union can tackle the migrant crisis only if it is united and solidary, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda concurred in a telephone call on Tuesday. The call was initiated by the Polish president, Radev's press secretariat said.

Radev and Duda spoke about the situation of the security in EU neighboring regions and on the migrant pressure at the EU's external borders in Eastern Europe.

The two agreed that long-term protection of the external borders requires the EU's readiness to respond in a timely manner to emergencies to prevent security breaches and humanitarian crises.

The Polish President congratulated Radev for his reelection at the November 21 runoff ballot in Bulgaria.

Radev stressed that during the five years of his new presidential term the established traditions in the bilateral relations and friendship between Bulgaria and Poland will continue to be upgraded, due to the excellent dialogue at the highest level between the countries. LN/YV
