First Concert of Balkan Chamber Music Held in New Initiative
November 28 (BTA) - Pernik hosted on Sunday the first concert of Balkan chamber music held as part of a new initiative called "Spiritual Bridges". The concert was the highlight of this year's edition of the November Music Days in Pernik.
The concert featured pieces by composers Tanas Caci of Albania, Ozcan Sonmez of Turkey, and Yordan Goshev of Bulgaria, who were present at the event.
The initiative is expected to establish itself as a new form of communication among the Balkan countries. Sunday's concert was the first step in making the event a several-day festival of Balkan chamber music.
Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Composers Tsenko Minkin said that the festival fosters the spiritual links between the Balkan peoples which has made the region "a spiritual reserve" of Europe and carrier of its fresh ideas. Minkin expects a bigger festival of the Balkan music next year.
The concert was held four days later than the initially planned date on account of the tragic road accident on November 23 which claimed the lives of 45 nationals of the Republic of North Macedonia returning in Skopje from a bus trip to Istanbul.
