Fake News Is One of the Biggest Problems that We Face Nowadays - AMNA News Agency Director General
Sofia, December 3 (Elena Drazheva of BTA) - Fake news is one of the biggest problems that we face nowadays, according to Emilios Perdikaris, the Director General of the Greek news agency AMNA. He spoke to BTA shortly after signing an agreement for information exchange with the BTA Director General Kiril Valchev today.
The two news agencies are also planning to create a Balkan newsroom to facilitate information exchange between all Balkan news agencies.
"What is of extreme importance is the reliability of the news source. We as news agencies can handle this role - to provide reliable information, coming from a reliable source, information that we have fact-checked and is accurate. Through cooperation we must find the exact mechanism that would help us to prevent the spreading of fake news", says Perdikaris.
The agreement signed today is the beginning of good cooperation between the two news agencies, helping them to exchange information coming from reliable sources, he adds. "We are Balkan countries, we have common interests, we have common views on how to manage information, and how the news agencies should evolve in the digital future. That is the reason why we take a step toward organizing better cooperation between the editors, between the journalists, to be able to offer the people of our two countries information of higher quality", the AMNA Director General adds.
