Kiril Petkov: Cabinet Coalition Agreement to Be Circulated to All Partners on Sunday
Sofia, December 5 (BTA) - There are still some steps remaining, the first one of which is to send the [government coalition] agreement to all coalition partners, to clear the text and wait for their feedback, Continue the Change co-leader Kiril Petkov told bTV here on Sunday.
"If everything is OK, we hope to have a finalized agreement by Wednesday, which will include all policies and the distribution of ministries," he said.
Petkov said that he likes to refer to the coalition agreement as a "contract", because just like in a contract, everyone should bear their responsibility and the common agreements are not merely recommendations, but will be part of the action plan. "I really hope that we will have a proposed new cabinet by the end of next week," he said.
The responsibility will rest with the coalition partners and the people they have nominated. Each party will be able to nominate their best candidates, who they believe are most suitable for the relevant ministry, Petkov said, noting that even the deputy ministers will be chosen by the designated minister. "We will allow the ministers themselves to pick their teams and will demand results from them. Each party will have the freedom to choose its candidates and we will not intervene," he said.
Petkov said he was surprised that there was no single topic that caused a lot of stress so far. "The only thing that caused tensions, which we cleared up, was when the budget should be adopted," he commented the talks between the partners. MY
