Tourism Minister: Bulgarian Tourism Shows Satisfactory Recovery among EU Destinations
December 9 (BTA) - Caretaker Tourism Minister Stela Baltova voiced expectations for better performance of Bulgarian tourism in 2021 compared with a year earlier.
In 2019, tourism and related sectors accounted for 10.7 per cent of Bulgaria GDP, or some 13.1 billion leva, In 2020, this share was 4.8 per cent, and at the end of 2021 tourism is expected to have performed better compared with 2020, but way shorter of its 2019 performance. However, Bulgaria reports a satisfactory rate of recovery among EU destinations, said Baltova at the 20th annual meeting of the Association of Bulgarian Tour Operators and Travel Agents (ABTTA) on Thursday.
According to Baltova, recovery should be based on boosting consumer confidence in the tourist business and information is key to that. Another component is related to attracting investments in health tourism.
