COVID-19 Update: 1,959 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 7.2%

Sofia, December 14 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 716, 647, after 27,152 tests identified 1,959 new infections on Monday, 82.95 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 7.2 per cent.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 397 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv Region with 194 cases and Varna Region with 154.

The active cases are 95,835. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,114, including 606 in intensive care. Of the 705 new hospital admissions, 88.79 per cent were not vaccinated.

The infected medical staff have reached 17,751.

Another 3,547 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 591,124.

One hundred and fifty-two fatalities were reported (92.76 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 29,688.

With 12,017 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 3,506,354 vaccine doses have been administered so far and 1,844,599 people are fully vaccinated, and 175,780 have received a booster jab. MT/LG
