COVID-19 Update: 2,004 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 6.96%

Sofia, December 15 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 718,651, after 28,810 tests identified 2,004 new infections on Tuesday, 81 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 6.96 per cent.

Sofia tops the list of new cases with 456 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv with 192 cases and Burgas with 182.

The active cases are 95,813. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 4,961, including 587 in intensive care. Of the 453 hospital admissions, 84 per cent were not vaccinated.

Another 1,950 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 593,074.

Seventy-six fatalities were reported (88 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 29,764.

With 17,185 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 3,523,523 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,850,725 people are fully vaccinated, and 184,821 have received a booster jab.
