Justice Minister and NGOs to Discuss Shared Parenting
December 26 (BTA) - Justice Minister Nadezhda Yordanova vowed to make arrangements for a discussion on future legislative changes to provide equal rights to parents after divorce, the Justice Ministry reported. On December 24, Yordanova had a telephone conversation with protesting members of two NGOs: Fathers for Responsible Parenthood and Article 24. The minister will talk in person with representatives of the two organizations on December 29, the first working day after Christmas.
Yordanova and the NGOs are expected to discuss shared parenting and a mechanism to protect the rights of children and both parents. They will prepare necessary legislative changes.
No actions have been taken for years on end to tackle this painful problem for children and parents, which often causes kids to become victims of conflict during and after divorce and leads to parental alienation, the Justice Ministry noted. VE
