COVID-19 Update: 1,918 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 11%
Sofia, January 4 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 751,458, after 17,408 tests identified 1,918 new infections on Monday, 73.6 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 11 per cent.
Sofia tops the list of new cases with 577 positive tests, followed by Varna with 205 cases and Plovdiv with 146.
The active cases are 106,712. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 4,306, including 455 in intensive care. Of the 315 hospital admissions, 80 per cent were not vaccinated.
Another 638 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 613,666.
Fifty-three fatalities were reported (96 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 31,080.
With 6,830 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 3,711,638 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,916,392 people are fully vaccinated, and 283,435 have received a booster jab.
