Transport Minister Sabev Proposes to Ambassador Sekizkok Equal Number of Permits for Bulgarian, Turkish Carriers
Sofia, January 7 (BTA) - Transport and Communications Minister Nikolay Sabev has invited the Turkish state to hold a ministerial meeting and visit the Kapitan Andreevo-Kapikule border checkpoint, the transport ministry's press office said on Friday. The meeting is planned to take place at the end of January this year and will be attended by representatives of the relevant institutions of the two countries.
This transpired during a conversation between Minister Nikolay Sabev and Turkey's Ambassador to Bulgaria Aylin Sekizkok.
At the meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Minister Sabev will raise the issue of updating the list of permits exchanged each year between the two countries so that it adequately meets the needs of carriers. Minister Sabev insists on equal working conditions for Bulgarian and Turkish carriers.
During the talks with the Turkish ambassador, an agreement was reached on the expansion of the capacity of the Kapitan Andreevo-Kapikule and the Lesovo-Hamzabeyli border checkpoints. Minister Sabev assured Ambassador Aylin Sekizkok that the Bulgarian side will offer ready-made solutions at the forthcoming meeting with his Turkish counterpart.
Minister Sabev informed Ambassador Aylin Sekizkok that Bulgaria supports the construction of a ro-ro terminal line between the port of Burgas and the port of Karasu. This will improve transport connectivity between the two countries, which is of great importance for the development of the region, the minister said.
