Prime Minister Calls on Bulgarians to Get Vaccinated in Facebook Video
January 8 (BTA) - In a video published on the Facebook page of his Continue the Change party on Saturday, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov calls on Bulgarians to get vaccinated against COVID-19. "I want to assure all Bulgarians that the vaccination will not be made compulsory while I am Prime Minister," he says in the video.
In his words, the only way to have minimum restrictions, children to keep going to school, businesses to work freely, and to have no personal restrictions like the Green Certificate is through vaccination. "If 75 per cent of Bulgarians get the shot, together we will manage to not close the economy, schools and, most of all, there will not be people at hospitals' doorsteps [due to lack of hospital beds]," he says.
He goes on to say that the choice whether to get vaccinated or not is up to each person and it should remain free, but this choice impacts not only on personal health but also on the entire society. "Only together can we overcome the yet another [fifth COVID] wave, each of us bears their responsibility whether we will succeed in managing as a country," the Prime Minister stresses, and ends his video address with, "I am relying on you!"
