January 9 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 778,701, after 26,832 tests identified 3,176 new infections on Saturday, 73.46 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 11.9 per cent.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 1,053 positive tests, followed by Burgas with 349 cases and Varna with 322.

The active cases are 127,266. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,009, including 517 in intensive care. Of the 226 new hospital admissions on Saturday, 83.19 per cent were not vaccinated.

Another 1,795 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 619,919.

Forty-five fatalities were reported (100 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 31,516.

With 11,276 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 3,849,848 vaccine doses have been administered so far.
