COVID-19 Update: 1,716 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 12.6%
Sofia, January 10 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 780,417, after 13,567 tests identified 1,716 new infections on Sunday, 73 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 12.6 per cent.
The active cases are 128,857. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,056, including 512 in intensive care. Of the 181 new hospital admissions, 85.08 per cent were not vaccinated.
The infected medical staff have reached 18,414.
Another 85 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 620,004.
Forty fatalities were reported (82.5 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 31,556.
With 6,824 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 3,856,671 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,941,571 people are fully vaccinated, and 388,644 have received a booster jab.
Another 52 new cases of the Omicron variant have been registered in Bulgaria, the Health Ministry reported here on Monday. The samples were taken across 13 health care establishments in nine regions in Bulgaria before January 3, 2022. The first 12 Omicron cases in Bulgaria were reported on January 2. ZH/YV, MY
