COVID-19 Update: 6,761 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 16%
January 11 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 787,178, after 41,983 tests identified 6,761 new infections on Monday, 75.65 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 16 per cent.
Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 2,072 positive tests, followed by Blagoevgrad with 710 cases and Plovdiv with 623.
The active cases are 134,574. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,219, including 570 in intensive care. Of the 861 hospital admissions, 84.44 per cent were not vaccinated.
Another 928 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 620,932.
A total of 116 fatalities were reported (94.83 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 31,672.
With 22,888 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 3,879,558 vaccine doses have been administered so far. DT/NZ
