Twelve Illegal Migrants and Two Traffickers Detained near Bulgarian-Turkish Border
January 12 (BTA) - Twelve illegal migrants and two human traffickers were detained near the Bulgarian-Turkish border, the Interior Ministry reported here on Wednesday.
On January 11, the border police and gendarmerie pulled over for inspection a car in the village of Malomirovo, Elhovo Municipality (Southeastern Bulgaria). The vehicle was driven by a 25-year-old Bulgarian from Pleven region. Eight men without documents, who identified themselves as Syrians, were also in the car. Both the driver and the illegal migrants were detained.
Similarly, on Wednesday night, a 40-year-old car driver and four illegal migrants who said they were Afghans and Pakistanis were detained near the village of Stefan Karadzhovo, Bolyarovo Municipality (Southeastern Bulgaria).
