COVID-19 Update: 5,703 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 19%

January 13 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 799,943, after 29,813 tests identified 5,703 new infections on Wednesday, 72.66 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 19.13 per cent.


Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 1,666 positive tests, followed by Blagoevgrad Region with 537 cases and Varna Region with 465.

The active cases are 139,593. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,257, including 579 in intensive care. Of the 553 hospital admissions, 81.37 per cent were not vaccinated.

The infected medical staff have reached 18,622.

Another 6,257 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 628,512.

Seventy-seven fatalities were reported (92.21 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 31,828.

With 30,398 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 3,941,901 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,954,380 people are fully vaccinated, and 452,422 have received a booster jab.
