COVID-19 Update: 2,379 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 15.8%
January 17 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 820,608, after 15,035 tests identified 2,379 new infections on Sunday, 77.30 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 15.8 per cent.
Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 975 positive tests, followed by Varna with 233 cases and Plovdiv with 153.
The active cases are 151,477. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,267, including 557 in intensive care. Of the 177 hospital admissions, 83.6 per cent were not vaccinated.
The infected medical staff have reached 18,864.
Another 1,239 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 637,045.
Fourty-four fatalities were reported (93.2 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 32,086.
With 3,719 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,007,018 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,962,387 people are fully vaccinated, and 502,666 have received a booster jab.
