COVID-19 Update: 9,996 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 22.3%
Sofia, January 18 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 830,604, after 44,772 tests identified 9,996 new infections on Monday, 78.8 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 22.3 per cent.
Sofia tops the list of new cases with 2,711 positive tests, followed by Blagoevgrad with 907 cases and Plovdiv with 737.
The active cases are 160,761. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,223, including 541 in intensive care. Of the 829 hospital admissions, 82.6 per cent were not vaccinated.
The infected medical staff have reached 18,957.
Another 551 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 637,596.
With 161 fatalities reported (91.9 per cent unvaccinated), the death toll now adds up to 32,247.
With 13,723 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,020,717 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,964,692 people are fully vaccinated, and 512,621 have received a booster jab.
