North Macedonia Assemby President: Improvement of Bilateral Ties with Bulgaria Is of Significant Importance

January 19 (BTA correspondent Marinela Velichkova) - After meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov here on Tuesday, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, expressed satisfaction with the talks. He underscored the efforts his country is putting in building goodneighbourly relations and regional cooperation with all countries in and outside of the region, noting that the improvement of bilateral ties with Bulgaria is of significant importance for Skopje.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Petkov and a government delegation led by him paid an official visit to the Republic of North Macedonia on Tuesday.

Xhaferi said that the signing of the 2017 Treaty of Friendship, Goodneighbourliness and Cooperation is a significant step forward in the history of the two countries' relations and thus confirms the commitment for mutual respect and understanding.

The Assembly President noted the need to continue strengthening the bilateral parliamentary cooperation through more contacts both at the highest level and at the level of parliamentary working bodies and parliamentary cooperation groups.
