President Radev: Much Positive Feedback from PM's January 18 Visit to Republic of North Macedonia

January 20 (BTA) - Approached by reporters to comment the January 18 visit of Prime Minister Kiril Petkov to the Republic of North Macedonia, President Rumen Radev said on Thursday that "each step which leads to the expansions of the bilateral relations should be supported". Radev said that a lot of positive feedback has come from the visit.

"However, as I stated on Wednesday in Parliament, I hope that along with all efforts to improve connectivity, investments, business and cooperation, we must not forget the fundamental issues that need to be resolved and which will truly open the door to the start of [EU accession] talks [of the Republic of North Macedonia]," Radev said.

Asked about changes to this country's Constitution, Radev said that there should be a consensus on opening the Constitution, as well as debate and public recognition that these amendments are necessary, and also a parliamentary majority. "The time is ripe for a debate on the constitutional changes," he said.
