Innovation and Growth Minister Appreciates Feedback from Business, Investors

January 20 (BTA) - Bulgarian Innovation and Growth
Minister Daniel Lorer and his Ministry attach importance to
having an open dialogue with Bulgarian and foreign investors.

"Once we identify a problem, it will be addressed as soon as
possible," Lorer said here on Thursday, quoted by the Economy
Ministry in a press release. He spoke at a presentation of the
results of an annual poll about the investment climate in
Bulgaria, conducted online by Advantage Austria at the end of
2021 among Austrian companies doing business here.

"We are all perfectly well aware that public procurement
procedures in this country were either not carried out at all or
were carried out in an exceedingly discredited manner," the
Minister said further on. "Our entire administration promises a
complete makeover of the model of the way money is spent in this
country for public purposes," he added.

Lorer joined Austria's Ambassador in Sofia Andrea Wicke,
Commercial Counsellor Philippe Kupfer and Austrian business
executives in Bulgaria in a discussion of the main business
climate problems confronting investors in Bulgaria.

The Austrian Trade Commission in Bulgaria said that most
respondents in the annual poll identified the need to combat
corruption as a major challenge.

It was noted at the presentation that Austria remains the home
country of leading investors in this country, with 350 Austrian
companies having invested 4.6 billion euro here and employing
over 20,000 Bulgarians, the Economy Ministry press release says.
