COVID-19 Update: 9,916 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 26.4%
Sofia, January 27 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 913,592, after 37,587 tests identified 9,916 new infections on Wednesday, 76.4 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 26.4 per cent.
Sofia tops the list of new cases with 2,644 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv with 1,003 cases and Varna with 834.
The active cases are 222,161. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,372, including 519 in intensive care. Of the 624 hospital admissions, 83.7 per cent were not vaccinated.
The infected medical staff have reached 20,014.
Another 4,814 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 658,492.
Seventy fatalities were reported (85.7 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 32,939.
With 11,873 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,126,744 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,983,763 people are fully vaccinated, and 588,403 have received a booster jab.
