COVID-19 Update: 9,874 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 26%
January 28 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 923,466, after 37,945 tests identified 9,874 new infections on Thusday, 76.71 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 26.02 per cent.
Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 2,480 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv Region with 1,028 cases and Varna Region with 802.
The active cases are 227,281. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,455, including 520 in intensive care. Of the 691 new hospital admissions, 86.83 per cent were not vaccinated.
The infected medical staff have reached 20,194.
Another 4,676 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 663,168.
Seventy-eight fatalities were reported (89.74 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 33,017.
With 12,636 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,139,365 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,987,545 people are fully vaccinated, and 596,235 have received a booster jab.
