Bulgarian News Agency Presents Multimedia Exhibition Dedicated to Vladimir Dimitrov - The Master's 140th Birth Anniversary

Sofia, January 31 (BTA) - The "Light and Spirit" multimedia project, dedicated to the 140th birth anniversary of Vladimir Dimitrov - The Master, will be presented on Tuesday in the Maxim Multimedia Room at the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA). The National Endowment Fund "13 Centuries of Bulgaria" and BTA are co-organizers of the project. The event will be streamed live on BTA's Facebook page.

The presentation of this unique for Bulgaria three-dimensional story sets the beginning of the celebrations of the artist and his achievements. The southwestern municipality of Kyustendil will traditionally be the centre of this year's celebrations, while BTA will be the media partner of the event.

The multimedia narrative combines both fragments and entire paintings by the immortal artist. Famous scenographer and visual artist Venelin Shurelov has combined traditional Bulgarian music with modernist vibes to complement the visual demonstration. The traditional for the artist faces, lips, eyes, and apples are intertwined in the presentation.

The multimedia work of Venelin Shurelov was created in 2014 and combines the Master's life and his most significant works. The canvasses and drawings included in the video presentation are from the collections of the National Art Gallery in Sofia, the Vladimir Dimitrov - The Master Gallery in the artist's home town of Kyustendil, the Boris Denev Gallery in Veliko Tarnovo, and the Nikola Marinov Gallery in Stara Zagora. The project has also been presented abroad - in Hungary (2015) and in Switzerland (2018).

Vladimir Dimitrov - The Master (1882-1960) has created some 2,600 works using all techniques, subjects and formats. The art gallery in Kyustendil boasts the largest collection of 1,359 paintings, followed by the National Art Gallery's collection. Some 160 drawings are kept at the National Museum of Military History. Another 600 or so are held by galleries and public institutions in the rest of the country. Some 300 are owned by private collectors in Bulgaria, and another 250 or so are in the Czech Republic, Italy, the United States, Hungary, Austria and Turkey. LG/YV
