COVID-19 Update: 8,116 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 20%
February 5 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 988,518, after 40,735 tests identified 8,116 new infections on Friday, 75.58 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 19.92 per cent.
Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 1,713 positive tests, followed by Varna Region with 793 cases and Plovdiv Region with 790.
The active cases are 258,716. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 6,156, including 586 in intensive care. Of the 886 hospital admissions, 84.76 per cent were not vaccinated.
The infected medical staff have reached 21,359.
Another 6,788 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 696,114.
A hundred fatalities were reported (90 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 33,688.
With 9,398 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,201,653 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 2,010,523 people are fully vaccinated, and 630,869 have received a booster jab.
