Dobrich, Northeastern Bulgaria, March 5 (BTA) - A Panorama of
Contemporary Chinese Cinema will be held in the Bulgarian
seaside town of Balchik between March 11 and 18. Six Chinese
films, winners of international awards, will be screened in the
Stone Chamber of Balchik Palace, the institution said earlier
this week. The festival is supported by the Confucius
Institutes.
The main highlights are "Qing Hong" (aka "Shanghai Dreams",
directed by Wang Xiaoshuai), which won the Jury Prize at the
Cannes Film Festival in 2005, and "Kekexili" (aka "Mountain
Patrol", directed by Chuan Lu), which earned the Don Quixote
Award at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2005. The
other titles are "Little Red Flowers," "The Silent Holy Stones,"
"Aftershock" and "Love for Life."
The Stone Chamber in Balchik Palace is already playing host to a
photo exhibition titled "Beautiful China," organized under the
auspices of the Chinese Ministry of Culture. Sixty works by
China's best contemporary photographers present cultural and
historical landmarks and everyday life in China. The exhibition
