New Rafting Season Starts in SW Bulgaria

Simitli, Southwestern Bulgaria, March 23 (BTA) - The new rafting
 season opens in the rapids of Strouma River at Simitli,
Southwestern Bulgaria, on March 28, said the local government.

The opening event is a festival of extreme sports organized by
the Simitli Town Hall and a local rafting club, X-club.

Traditionally, the rafting season opens here in the first
weekend of spring.

The Strouma rapids at Simitli are considered the best natural
spot for white-water rafting in Bulgaria, and the river level at
 this time of the year is perfect.

The organizers hope for fine weather to make the day a real
feast for the lovers of sport, rivers and nature.
