International Theatre Festival
Varna Summer Opens on
June 1


Sofia, May 7 (BTA) - The 23rd edition of the International
Theatre Festival "Varna Summer" is to take place in June (1
through to 11) in Varna, on the Black Sea, the Culture Ministry
said.

Theatre goers will see latest works of the Bulgarian and world
dramatic art, as well as works by prominent playwrights such as
Ivan Vazov, Federico Garcia Lorca, Jean Anouilh and Sir Arnold
Wesker.

The foreign productions invited to take part in the festival
show the different faces of modern theatre. Plays by
world-famous directors: Italian Pippo Delbono's "Orchidee" and
the "Golden Sixties" of Czech director Jan Mikulasek will have
their first showing in Bulgaria. The programme also includes
satellite-broadcast productions and a number of accompanying
