Standing Ovations in China for
Performances of
Bulgarian Credo Theatre Company


Sofia, May 7 (BTA) - Actress Nina Dimitrova and her young
colleagues from the Credo Theatre Company, Dimiter Nestorov and
Steliyan Radev, have just returned from a "theatre tour de
triomphe" in China. The trio's performances of Gogol's "The
Overcoat" and "What Did Grandpa Do" based on Andersen's works,
made the audience in Shanghai give standing ovations to the
Bulgarian actors.

The performances took place during the 8th International Theatre
Festival organized by the Shanghai Theatre Academy, the
International Theatre Institute and the Shanghai Mayoral Office.
Credo's participation was made possible with the special
support of the Culture Programme of the Sofia City Hall. This
was the third time the Sofia City Hall helped Credo act as an
ambassador of Bulgarian culture abroad.

The Bulgarian company impressed the audience and the critics
with their brilliant acting in English.

The company has already been invited to tour other places in
China and other countries. Professors from the Shanghai Theatre
Academy and from other art institutions in the country said that
Credo's performances, which were described as "a textbook in
acting," should be seen in other places in China too. LY /ZH/
