Bulgaria Nominates Four Biosphere Reserves for Inclusion in UNESCO's World Network of Biosphere Reserves

Sofia, October 10 (BTA) - Bulgaria has nominated four biosphere reserves for inclusion in UNESCO's World Network of Biosphere Reserves: Central Balkan, Chervenata Stena (The Red Wall), Ouzounbadjak, and Sreburna, the Environment and Water Ministry said in a press release.

The nomination of the reserves was supported by the local administrations of the regions where the reserves are located.

Bulgaria joined UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme in 1977 with 17 strict reserves, thus becoming one of the countries with the most representative networks of biosphere reserves in Europe.
