World Bank Upgrades
Economic Growth Projections
for Bulgaria

Washington, D.C. January 9 (BTA) - In a report published on Wednesday, the World Bank revised up its projections for Bulgaria's economic growth in 2019-2021.

The World Bank has projected a 3.6 per cent growth for 2019 after its June forecast for 3 per cent growth. This will be an increase from the 3.1 per cent in 2018.

Also, the World Bank revised up its growth projections for 2020 and 2021 to 3 per cent and 3.1 per cent respectively. However, this would imply a slowdown from 2019.

In its June forecast the World Bank projected a growth of 2.8 per cent for the two-year period.

The bank expects the rate of growth to remain at 3.1 per cent in 2022.

Quoted by Associated Press, the bank warns that a number of risks may upend the forecast, including the possibility of renewed trade hostilities between the world's two biggest economies, the United States and China. RI/PP //
