to Japanese Government for Decision
to Grant Anti-Flu Drug to Bulgaria

Sofia, April 7 (BTA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva thanked her Japanese counterpart, Toshimitsu Motegi, and the Japanese government for deciding to provide the drug Avigan, also known as Favipiravir, free of charge to Bulgaria.

It will be used to treat coronavirus patients.

"Only in solidarity and unity can we cope with the COVID-19 challenge," Zaharieva points out in her Facebook post and expresses her wishes that Japanese people, with whom Bulgaria shares warm and friendly relations, overcome the crisis soon.

Earlier today, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said that Japan plans to give free of charge to 20 countries, including Bulgaria, the flu medication Avigan, also known as Favipiravir, which will be used in treating patients infected with the new coronavirus. NV/DT
