AmCham Bulgaria: Rule of Law Essential for Attracting Foreign Investment
July 30 (BTA) - To become a preferred nearshoring destination, Bulgaria needs to embrace the rule of law and fight corruption, the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham Bulgaria), Olivier Marquette, said on Thursday during an online conference on "Bulgaria as the Newest Top Nearshoring Destination."
Marquette noted that this country could be criticized for its rule-of-law performance, which is a top priority for AmCham Bulgaria.
Another condition for attracting foreign investment is to facilitate doing business and develop electronic government, he said. He believes that Bulgaria has many intelligent, talented and skillful people and should show leadership in promoting electronic government.
Deputy Economy Minister Stamen Yanev admitted that many things remain to be done as regards the rule of law. He encouraged foreign investors to turn to the InvestBulgaria Agency and the Economy Ministry if they come across an unregulated practice. This will help them cope and save them trouble, Yanev said.
The conference was organized by the InvestBulgaria Agency in association with the Bilateral Trade and Industrial Chambers. RY/VE
