Nearly 15,000 Fewer Jobless People
in July on Month
Sofia, August 17 (BTA) - The jobless people registered with job offices totalled 258,553 at the end of July 2020, down by 14,814 from June, the Employment Agency said on Monday citing its administrative statistics.
The jobless total decreased by 36,900 (12.5 per cent) compared to May, but increased by 85,910 compared to a year earlier.
The registered unemployment rate stood at 7.9 per cent in July 2020, down by 0.4 percentage points from June and 1.1 percentage points from May when the registered unemployment caused by COVID-19 peaked. The jobless rate increased by 2.6 percentage points compared to July 2019.
The unemployed people newly registered with job offices numbered 28,064 in July. In addition, 702 people with jobs, students and pensioners also registered with the Employment Agency.
In July, 27,423 unemployed people found jobs, 92.3 per cent of them in the real economy. Job offices also helped 435 pensioners, students and employed people find jobs in July.
Compared to July 2019, the unemployed people who found jobs increased by 80.1 per cent. The manufacturing industry provided jobs to 19 per cent of those who started work, the hospitality industry to 17.5 per cent, trade and repairs of motor vehicles to 13 per cent, state administration to 5.9 per cent, construction to 5 per cent, agriculture, forestry and fisheries to 4.1 per cent.
Subsidized jobs were taken by 2,120 unemployed people from risk groups.
In-person adult training programmes financed by the Exchequer and the European Social Fund involved 6,270 jobless people in July.
There were 16,349 vacancies on the primary job market in July, of which 79 per cent were in the private sector. Vacancies were mostly announced in the manufacturing industry (26.8 per cent), the hospitality industry (19.2 per cent) and trade and repairs
